What a day at the Digital
#Insurance Agenda conference - maybe on the hottest day of the year in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. I was really honored that we were media partner of the conference.
I saw 3 trends
1. (Somewhat) Maturity of the #insurtech area
I did not see use cases that caused me goosebumps neither groundbreaking news was announced - even tough the cooperation of the Dutch Association of Insurers and Insurtech Munich or the showcase of #socialrobots was cool (both did not make it into the video because it was already in editing - sorry) .
Besides that it seems that we have a break from breathtaking announcements. But I had a lot of exciting behind the scenes talks with scaling start-ups and hard working incumbents. There were also a few exciting use cases in the show and tell sessions. So within the next 12-18 months I expect a lot more use cases (if they don't get killed internally).
2. Third waves of incumbents join the innovation band wagon
It was funny to see the senior "VP projects in IT" of an #insurer I had a talk three years ago denying the expansion of the internet and new market entrants at the DIA conference. So now even those insurer from the "We always have done it this way" fraction feel the pressure to at least attend conferences like DIA.
The DIA conference Rogerand Reggy and their team is a brillantly organized and important event in Europe. A must attend conference for sure.
